Viola sororia ‘Rubra’ is an unusual variety boasting rich wine-purple flowers in spring, which are held above a neat clump of heart-shaped leaves. Requiring virtually no maintenance, this low-growing perennial makes good ground cover for a small area and is great for underplanting shrubs and roses. Woolly violet also looks beautiful planted amongst spring bulbs or in a woodland area, where it will readily seed around to naturalise. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 20cm (8in).
Viola sororia flowers are edible and make a great garnish to salads, cakes and desserts. For more details about edible flowers click here.
