Narrow, upright, and densely branched, this RHS AGM variety is a slow growing conifer with a neatly, conical shape. The new foliage of Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ has a yellow tint in spring before maturing to dark green. Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ makes an excellent stand alone specimen tree, providing superb colour and structure in the garden all year round. This variety also makes a good hedge, particularly when interplanted with the yellow form Thuja occidentalis ‘Golden Smaragd’, to create a colourful two-tone effect. Height: 2.5m (98″). Spread: 1.5m (59″).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
