This charming perennial has swaying, vertical spires which from July to September are decked in pristine, white flowers, resembling a snapdragon. The tubular flowers are arranged along the flower spike in four vertical tiers and each individual flower is able to turn towards the sun. This curious feature is also the origin of its common name, the ‘Obedient Plant’: if you bend the flowers left or right, they obediently stay in position as though on a hinge. Physostegia virginiana ‘Alba’ is a lovely addition to informal flower beds or borders, extending their performance through to later in the season. Rich in pollen, it is especially attractive to bees. Height: 60cm (24”). Spread: 40cm (16”).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
