Majestic violet-black blooms of up to 10cm (4″) across make Iris louisiana ‘Black Gamecock’ a choice perennial. The opulent blooms rise above dense clumps of strap-like foliage from May to July. Iris louisiana thrives in boggy ground and makes a lovely addition to poolside planting schemes, particularly when planted en masse. These striking hardy perennials make excellent cut flowers so it’s worth planting a few extra plants for summer bouquets. Height: 90cm (36″). Spread: 30cm (12″). Planting depth: Zones 1, 2 & 3 to 20cm (8″) below water level.
