This tough but beautiful shrub offers multiple seasons of interest, evergreen colour and excellent wildlife value. Cotoneaster lacteus forms a small, multi-stemmed evergreen tree or large shrub densely cloaked in leathery, dark green leaves with furry white undersides. In spring, it is covered in large clusters of small white flowers that provide an early source of food for pollinators. The flowers are followed by clusters of orange-red berries which persist into winter. This robust shrub is highly adaptable, tolerating coastal sites, cold north-facing positions and poor, dry soils. Use it as a background shrub, a stand-alone specimen or for a dense, screening hedge. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Average growth 20-40cm per year. Maximum height and spread: 2.5-5m (8-16ft).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
