Cephalaria gigantea is a fabulous plant for a wildlife or cottage garden, bearing a natural, relaxed habit and nectar-rich flowers which offer a banquet for bees and butterflies. Its size is impressive – when flowering in summer, it can reach heights of over 2m – but as the flowers are borne on long, slender, almost leafless stems, it has an airy, open appearance which gives it a dramatic but graceful presence in the border. Basal clumps of deeply lobed leaves bear very tall branching stems carrying large creamy flowers about 6cm across. Its informal looks blend beautifully with cottage garden plantings at the back of a mixed border.
Maximum height: 250m (98in). Spread: 100cm (40in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
